Accessible Service / Mountain Mobility Program
Summit Stage offers year-round paratransit service to residents and visitors. Paratransit service is available to anyone with a disability to travel anywhere within Summit County.
To obtain transportation on the Paratransit System, please call 970-389-1041 or 970-668-0999 at least 24 hours before transportation is needed. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility
You are eligible for paratransit service based on either permanent or temporary disability and your ability to use the fixed route system.
At the time of the first request for service, a few questions will be asked regarding your needs. This should take less than five minutes on the phone.
Later, you will be asked to complete a more detailed application.
Hours of Operation
Paratransit trips can begin no earlier and end no later than the hours of fixed route operations. The fixed operating hours vary. For current schedule information call 970-668-0999 or visit the Routes & Schedules page. The Summit Stage operates 365 days per year. Paratransit trips are subject to cancellation due to hazardous weather conditions.
Eligible Trips
Users of the fixed route system are not required to provide a reason for use of the system, nor are users of the Paratransit System. Transportation for shopping, medical appointments, going to the movies, theater, or dinner - these are all good reasons to call.
Vehicles Available
The Summit Stage has a paratransit van, five mid-size, and twelve full-size buses equipped with wheelchair lifts. Each vehicle can accommodate two wheelchairs. The van has additional seating for four. The paratransit van provides door-to-door service and requires a reservation. Most fixed-route buses can accommodate wheelchairs. However, guests requiring wheelchair access should contact the Summit Stage to verify an accessible bus will be in service.
